Realm Control Corp. (then
known as Xolutionz) was first introduced to Denton ISD for sake of
maintenance of their existing Synergy32 Media Retrieval and
Campus Automation systems. However, after months of service
calls it quickly became evident to the district that an
upgrade to Phoenix would better serve their needs. Because
most maintenance of the Phoenix32 system can be accomplished
remotely, it only made sense to invest in an upgrade and
thus reduce the number of service calls. Also, the staff and
faculty was interested in the improved features offered by
Phoenix, including advanced DVD control, web client control
capabilities, and greatly improved response time. Five
schools within the district were upgraded during the months
of October and November of 2004.
Quiet on the Set!

In addition to scheduling and control of all media and
destinations on campus, Ryan High School also takes
advantage of the Phoenix live video paging capabilities to
broadcast morning announcements to the entire campus.
Whereas the live page was sluggish when controlled by
Synergy, response time with Phoenix is much faster. This is
due largely to the NetLinx control system that is
approximately 85 times faster than the predecessor to
NetLinx, known as AXcess.
Remote Maintenance Capabilities
The network specialists at Denton ISD were very helpful in
establishing the infrastructure required to allow Realm Control Corp.
to provide maintenance of the system remotely. Whether it's
a revision to the NetLinx or Windows code, or a Television
Manager that needs to be reloaded, Realm Control Corp. can maintain
the system without requiring a site visit. This greatly
reduces turnaround time and cost on system maintenance.
Conclusion
Realm Control Corp. would like to thank Denton ISD for choosing
Phoenix as the upgrade path for their Synergy system.
Several individuals were involved in the upgrade. In
District Administration, Realm Control Corp. extends special thanks to
Ernie Stripling and Peggy Bradley. In Computer Services,
David Hansmeyer, Greg Straughn, and Vauda Kane are all
deserving of recognition. Finally, a great big thanks goes
out to the Media Directors in the trenches: Jaci Smalley,
Peggy Farris, Doug Woods, Sandy Noles, and Rosemary Grose
(listed by order of install).
This upgrade would not have been possible without the
hardware support provided by
Communication Concepts.
Communication Concepts serves the entire Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex and surrounding areas, providing professional A/V
