Two generations of the Phoenix32 web interface have been released. The earlier version, which serves up from the control system, is known as "G1" (Generation 1). G1 requires the Java Virtual Machine in order to create a virtual touch panel within the browser. G1 is still in use at some facilities today. However, sluggish performance and some usability issues have made G1 less desirable than its successor, XGen (neXt Generation). XGen serves up from the Phoenix32 Server PC, or from another dedicated web server PC, which makes for great performance and a rich user interface experience overall. XGen has been validated in the following environments:

Microsoft Windows, Internet Explorer 6.x
Microsoft Windows, Netscape 7.02
Apple Macintosh, Safari 1.3.1
Apple Macintosh, Internet Explorer 5.2
Apple Macintosh, Netscape 7.2
Apple Macintosh, Firefox 1.0.6
